NEW YORK — Anti-terrorism measures on trains remained in the news last week when Amtrak CEO Joseph Boardman argued before a Senate subcommittee that more money should be spent on the effort.

One tactic discussed was budding technology that can alert train operators when a track has been tampered with or otherwise disturbed.

Railroads already use some systems that can alert train engineers to problems ahead.
