NEW YORK — Railroads hit new highs Wednesday, as a Lehman Brothers analyst said the group should continue posting strong earnings this year following CSX Corp.’s better-than-expected first-quarter report. The price of oil, though, surpassed $115 a barrel for the first time in intraday trading.
Here’s how some major players finished:
Union Pacific Corp., up $5.67, or 4.3 percent, to $136.57.
Burlington Northern Santa Fe Corp., up $4.67, or 4.9 percent, to $99.30.
CSX Corp., up $2.12, or 3.7 percent, to $59.89.
FedEx Corp., up $3.36, or 3.6 percent, to $97.03.
United Parcel Service Inc., up $1.76, or 2.5 percent, to $72.79.
