ST. LOUISVILLE, Ohio — Part of a bridge that had been washed over by a creek collapsed this afternoon as a CSX train drove over it, officials said.
No one was injured and no train cars were lost in the accident, which occurred just north of St. Louisville between Ohio 13 and Dog Hollow Road, said Dave Morehead, of the Licking County Engineer’s Office.
The train of 23 empty box cars was heading toward Mt. Vernon when it passed over a creek at 1:45 p.m. today, Morehead said. The train normally takes supplies to farmers and other communities, officials reported.
The train’s engine and one car were separated from the remaining cars and driven over the bridge, but several cars remained stuck. Officials weren’t sure when the cars would be moved.
The bridge may be shored up with stone, Morehead said.
