GREAT FALLS, Mont. — A new report warns that projected increases in coal trains moving across the state, on top of Bakken oil shipments, could begin hogging rail capacity, increasing shipping costs for other commodities, causing congestion and leaving communities along 38 segments in Montana and other states facing expensive infrastructure upgrades.
