CHARLESTON, W.Va. — U.S. Sen. Jay Rockefeller stressed the importance of preserving Amtrak passenger train service in West Virginia and throughout the country in a statement given to the Senate Commerce Committee on Wednesday morning. Rep. Nick J. Rahall, D.-W.Va., ranking member of the House Transportation and Infrastructure Committee, also was critical of Republican plans to gut Amtrak.
