McCOOK, Neb. — A runaway semitrailer truck rolled down an embankment, crossed a road and damaged railroad tracks here early Monday.
The accident occurred about 5 a.m. MST, Red Willow County Sheriff Gene Mahon said. Authorities did not know what caused the truck to roll from a parking lot, and it was not known if the truck’s driver was in the vehicle at the time, Mahon said.
The truck damaged the Burlington Northern Santa Fe rail line. Railroad crews were working on the tracks to restore train traffic, Mahon said.
