JERSEY CITY, N.J. — The Hudson-Bergen Light Rail hosts a pre-Christmas visit from Santa Claus tomorrow, with St. Nicholas stopping and greeting residents in Bayonne, Hoboken and Jersey City, according to the Jersey Journal.
The event, which is sponsored by NJ Transit, is designed to attract consumers to the various restaurants and retail stores in the three cities, and to encourage commuters to take advantage of the Bayonne-Jersey City-Hoboken light rail route, said Ken Hitchner, senior public information officer of NJ Transit.
Santa’s Light Rail is scheduled to stop first at the East 34th Station in Bayonne at 10 a.m. Bayonne High School’s all male a capella group, the “Bee-Sharps,” is scheduled to perform.
Santa’s “Holiday Express” then travels to Hoboken, where the Wallace School Chorus will perform at the Terminal Waiting Room at 12:30 p.m.
Santa’s trip concludes at the Martin Luther Drive station, wheremembers of the St. Dominic Academy Choir will perform.
Santa will distribute free holiday savings booklets that offer retail savings at over 40 participating establishments around Hudson County. The booklets are also available at Fleet banks around the county, or can be downloaded from NJ Transit’s web page, Hitchner said.
