CLEVELAND, October 8 — BLET members who work for Norfolk Southern and who have children who are high school juniors should be aware of upcoming deadlines for the Norfolk Southern scholarship program.
While most scholarships offered by the BLET or other organizations are awarded to high school seniors, NS chooses to focus on high school juniors who will be entering college in 2010.
The deadline for 2010 scholarships is February 28, 2009. However, in order to meet NS’s eligibility requirements, current high school juniors will need to take a national exam on October 15 or October 18, 2008. Test scores from the “Preliminary SAT/National Merit Scholarship Qualifying Test (PSAT/NMSQT)” will help determine scholarship winners.
As the first exam is just over a week away, BLET members who are interested in apply for a Norfolk Southern scholarship must act quickly.
