NEW YORK — Homeland Security Secretary Janet Napolitano is launching a national “see something, say something” campaign in New York City.

Napolitano will make the announcement Thursday in Penn Station, the nation’s busiest train station. The campaign is part of a national information-sharing partnership with Amtrak.

The slogan was inspired by the New York transit system’s admonition to traditionally mind-your-own-business New Yorkers. It was instrumental in the foiled Times Square bomb plot when a street vendor noticed smoke wafting from a vehicle and reported it to police.

Napolitano also will swear in John Pistole as administrator of the Transportation Security Administration. He is a former deputy FBI director who was confirmed by the Senate last week to fill the top TSA job.
