STARK COUNTY, Ind. — Thursday afternoon, James Surfus, of Knox, was attempting to drive a semi across railroad tracks at Indiana 8 and County Road 200 East in Starke County. Police said Surfus was driving northbound on County Road 200.
The passenger side of the northbound semi was stuck by a Norfolk Southern Train.
Surfus died from his injuries at Starke Memorial Hospital, Chief Deputy Bill Dulin stated in a press release.
The accident remains under investigation by the Starke County Sheriff’s Department.
