FARGO, N.D. — U.S. Sen. Heidi Heitkamp, D-N.D., has written to the top Amtrak official urging upgrades to aging equipment and to keep the Empire Builder line that runs through the state. The senator pointed out to Amtrak CEO Richard Anderson about the increase in ridership on the line in recent years and the need to keep the service for rural communities.
