WASHINGTON, D.C. — A trio of Democratic lawmakers said Wednesday that the Government Accountability Office should review the safety of the national rail system after a string of recent accidents. Sens. Jay Rockefeller (D-W.Va.), Dick Durbin (D-Ill.) and Frank Lautenberg (D-N.J.) said it was important for both people and goods to be able to be transported safely on trains.
