WASHINGTON, D.C. — At a hearing of the Senate Commerce committee on June 10, Sen. Richard Blumenthal (D., Conn.) pressed the Federal Railroad Administration to impose fines of up to $105,000 per day for railroads that have been “grossly negligent” in installing the system, but an official with the Federal Railroad Administration (FRA) would not commit to that step.
