WASHINGTON, D.C. — U.S. railroads have made significant strides to recover from last winter’s delays and gridlock that plagued service and reliability in South Dakota and other Midwestern states, but Sen. John Thune said Thursday a government report showed freight operators must continue aggressively investing in their tracks and equipment to prevent a recurrence of the problems.
