WASHINGTON — On Thursday, May 15th at 8:00 am, Jeffrey Shane, Under Secretary for Policy at the U.S. Department of Transportation will brief port and intermodal transportation professionals on the Bush Administration’s Surface Transportation Reauthorization Proposal.
The “Safe, Accountable, Flexible and Efficient Transportation Equity Act of 2003 (SAFETEA),” a six-year $247 billion proposal, serves as the largest surface and public transportation investment in U.S. history and contains numerous provisions designed to facilitate the efficient movement of freight and goods through America’s port and intermodal facilities.
The briefing will be presented at a conference jointly sponsored by the American Association of Port Authorities (AAPA) and the Intermodal Association of North America (IANA).
