PHILADELPHIA — An explosive scare that turned out to be a false alarm disrupted travel for hundreds of SEPTA commuter rail riders Wednesday night.

An R-5 Paoli-Downingtown train was halted just west of the Rosemont station tonight after a suspicious package was found. The discovery came just after a passenger left the train after trying to get his money back from a conductor.

Everyone on the train was evacuated, and passengers on other trains were taken off and bussed around the scene while the bomb squad was called in to investigate.

After nearly three hours, officials finally determined that the package was harmless.
