NEWARK — NJ Transit and Amtrak trains are running again, though officials warn that service is likely to be delayed through the evening.

The trains stopped running at about 4:40 p.m. because of a power problem on the Northeast Corridor.

NJ Transit said it expects significant residual delays to last through the evening, and it is encouraging commuters who can put off their trips until later tonight to do so.

NJ Transit officials at Penn Station in Newark are telling people to expect delays of 90 minutes or more on the Northeast Corridor and North Jersey Coast Line.

NJ Transit train passes and tickets are being cross-honored on PATH trains and on buses operated by NJ Transit and private companies.
