TOLEDO, Ohio — Seven cars in a CSX Transportation Corp. grain train derailed yesterday in North Toledo, causing no injuries but blocking a main line between Toledo and the Detroit area for the rest of the day.

The 32nd through 38th cars of a 65-car train headed from Grand Rapids, Mich., to St. Louis jumped the tracks about 5:45 a.m. for as-yet unknown reasons, said Gary Sease, a CSX spokesman.

The derailment occurred in a remote area just south of Hallett Junction, which is at Matzinger Road in North Toledo, near the DaimlerChrysler Toledo North Assembly Plant and the Hoffman Road Landfill. No hazardous materials were involved, and no damage estimate was immediately available.

CSX, which typically operates several dozen trains a day over the line between Toledo and Plymouth, Mich., rerouted a limited number of trains via other railroads yesterday, he said.
