NEWARK, N.J. — A minor fire in a storage shed next to the NJ Transit Morris & Essex Line drawbridge over the Passaic River in Harrison delayed a half-dozen passenger trains last night, officials said.
No one was injured, the bridge was not damaged and this morning’s commute will not be affected, officials added.
The fire broke out about 9:50 p.m., delaying trains for between 10 and 50 minutes, according to NJ Transit spokesman Joe Dee. Service was restored about 45 minutes later.
Harrison firefighters put out the fire, The cause of the fire remained under investigation. There was no immediate estimate for how many passengers were affected.
