WICHITA, Kan. — Siemens Energy has filed a lawsuit against BNSF Railway seeking compensation for a cargo of damaged windmill blades.

Siemens alleges that 21 wind turbine blades that it manufactured at its Fort Madison, Iowa, blade plant were shipped to Liberal in August. All of them were later found to have damaged blade tips.

Siemens alleges this occurred when they hit a rail overpass at Kansas Avenue and First Street in Kansas City, Kan., and is seeking $3.2 million, including $2.6 million for the 21 blades.
