PHILADELPHIA — Transit officials in Philadelphia say eight people aboard a trolley car were sickened by smoke when overhead electrical wires came down and started a fire in a tunnel.

The mishap occurred about 9:35 a.m. Monday at 37th and Sansom streets.
Officials with the Southeastern Pennsylvania Transportation Authority say some of the eight were transported to the Hospital of the University of Pennsylvania. Their conditions were not immediately available.
Authorities say none of the injuries appeared to be life-threatening.
SEPTA says the fallen wires set fire to wooden ties and debris in the tunnel, but crews cut power to the lines within five minutes.
Trolley traffic through the tunnel was diverted while workers replaced the wires.
Service was resuming about 12:15 p.m. Monday.
