WASHINGTON, D.C. — Norfolk Southern’s (NS) defense against a takeover bid by Canadian Pacific (CP) is benefiting from the eastern US railroad’s closer ties to members of Congress. Lawmakers from at least seven states have written the regulatory body in charge of reviewing the merger to express concern about the deal.
