CLEVELAND, January 14 — Space remains for BLET members interested in attending next month’s Division Legislative Representative workshop at Teamster headquarters in Washington, D.C., February 13-17, 2011.
The BLET Education & Training Department is conducting the workshop in conjunction with the BLET National Legislative Office and the National Association of State Legislative Board Chairmen (NASLBC).
Classroom training begins the evening of Sunday, February 13, and all-day classroom training follows on February 14, 15 and 16. After completion of the classroom training, attendees will participate in a full day of lobbying on February 17. February 18 is scheduled for travel home.
Those who successfully complete the classroom portion of the workshop will be eligible for a stipend of $123 per day from the North American Railway Foundation (NARF). The stipends will be paid directly to the State Legislative Board or Division Secretary-Treasurer.

After registering for the workshop, workshop attendees will receive an e-mail confirmation that will include hotel registration information. The deadline for hotel registrations has been extended a week to January 24. Attendees are responsible for their transportation costs, along with the cost of room and board.
Including the upcoming LR Workshop in Washington D.C., the BLET Education & Training Department will hold four full workshops in the first three months of 2011. Today, the E&T Department concludes a workshop for Secretary-Treasurers in San Diego, Calif., and two additional ST Workshops are scheduled for Atlanta, Ga., (February 27-March 2) and Vancouver, Wash. (March 13-16).
