CLEVELAND, January 15 — Newly-elected Secretary-Treasurers have their first major task coming up on March 31 with the deadline for filing of Department of Labor reports. So why not attend an Education & Training Department workshop for some help?

The task can be daunting for first-time officers, but the job can be made a whole lot easier with the knowledge gained by attending an Education & Training Department workshop. Upcoming courses for Secretary-Treasurers are scheduled for Las Vegas (January 24-27) and Jacksonville, Fla. (February 28-March 3).

A third workshop in St. Louis (February 21-24) is full and a waiting list has been started for this workshop in case someone should drop out.
And even though the Las Vegas workshop is just over a week away, there is still room available for last-minute registrations.

Those looking for help prior to the March 31 deadline may wish to consider registering for the workshop in Jacksonville, Fla. Plenty of space remains for the course, which will be held at the Hyatt Regency Jacksonville Riverfront, Jacksonville.

BLET Secretary-Treasurers are encouraged to sign up as soon as possible. Class size is limited to 22 for each workshop.

Secretary-Treasurers must register for the workshops online through the BLET website at: http://www.ble.org/st. When registering, STs will be able to rank the workshops according to the one they would most like to attend.

Not only will attendance at a workshop make your job easier; you will also qualify for a $116 per day stipend from the North American Railway Foundation. The stipends will be paid directly to the members’ respective Divisions upon successful completion of the course.

The North American Railway Foundation (NARF) is a non-profit operating foundation formed by the Brotherhood’s Relief and Compensation Fund
(BR&CF) to support rail history, education, safety and technology in the United States and Canada. With initial funding and continued Board of Directors stewardship coming from the BR&CF, NARF has supported many varied non-political projects throughout the United States and Canada over the past ten years. The primary focus of these efforts has been in support of organized rail labor… giving back to all of the men and women of the railroad community across North America.
