Statement by AFL-CIO President John J. Sweeney on death of IUE-CWA member on Kentucky General Electric picket line

WASHINGTON — It is with great sadness that I offer my condolences to the family and colleagues of the IUE-CWA member who was struck by a police car and killed this morning while picketing General Electric. The labor movement today mourns its loss, but will remember with great pride the courage of this woman who fought to improve the future for all working families trying to afford decent healthcare.
