ERWIN, Tenn. — Sad. Shocking. Hard. Brutal. Those are the words used by railroad men and community leaders in Erwin, who blinked away tears as they described the void created by Thursday’s sudden closing of CSX facilities in the town and the end of more than century of railroad operations here.
