Striking a balance: Coal and rail have a long history of mutual dependency

CASPER, Wyo. — One after another, train cars are loaded with chunks of black coal at the Antelope Mine 60 miles south of Gillette. A sealant-like glue coats the tops of the coal to prevent any from being lost to wind or storms along the way.
