BELLEVIEW, Fla. — Authorities think a 15-year-old boy who was struck and killed by a train committed suicide, the Orlando Sentinel reported.

Rosemary M. Fadden told police her son, Michael Edward Sarles, told his family and friends he was going to kill himself after an argument, according to a Marion County sheriff’s report.

The boy left the family’s home early Saturday and went toward railroad tracks, the report said.

Sarles’ parents and sister tried to pull him away from the tracks, but he broke away and rushed into the path of a CSX train with his head down.

The locomotive engineer told deputies the southbound train was traveling 40 to 45 mph. Lott blew the horn, but Sarles ran toward the train, which killed him.
