OMAHA, Neb. — A mining and energy company is suing the country’s two largest railroads, arguing that they conspired to keep prices high and avoid competition.
The lawsuit says the Union Pacific Railroad and BNSF Railway Co. profited by setting unfair fuel surcharges and preventing customers from negotiating long-term contracts. The suit, filed Tuesday by Oxbow Mining in U.S. District Court in Washington, D.C., says the railroads violated federal antitrust laws.
