CHICAGO — Police found nothing in their search of the Ogilvie Transportation Center this morning after a report of a suspicious object shut down Metra service and forced the evacuation of the downtown station just before 11 a.m.

Service at the station at Madison and Canal was reportedly back to normal early this afternoon after a delay caused by a police search, Metra said.

Police confirmed a suspicious object was reported, but Officer Patrice Harper of police News Affairs said the search “turned up negative.”

The CTA honored Metra tickets on the Green Line between Oak Park and Chicago, on the Blue Line between Jefferson Park and Chicago, and on the Purple Line between Evanston Main/Davis Street and Chicago until noon.

Several Union Pacific trains were rerouted to other stations, Metra said.
