CHICAGO — At least one person was injured this morning when a sport-utility vehicle slammed into a Metra depot in Berwyn.
The crash occurred about 6:20 a.m. at 7135 Windsor Ave., Berwyn, at the station along the Burlington Northern-Santa Fe line that runs from Chicago to Aurora, Metra spokeswoman Audrey Renteria said.
An SUV slammed into the brick building that holds a ticket office and an area for commuters to wait for trains, Renteria said.
One woman was taken to a local hospital in an unknown condition, Renteria said. She did not know if the woman was the driver of the vehicle or a commuter.
Train service was not affected by the crash.
“Part of the station has been damaged, but passengers may board trains at the platform as usual,” Renteria said.
The cause of the accident had not been determined, according to police.
Firefighters and police remained at the scene as of 7 a.m., a Berwyn Fire Department representative said. He had no information on any injuries.
