WASHINGTON, D.C. — Teamsters General Secretary-Treasurer Ken Hall is calling on Michael Larson to step down from the board of Republic Services, Inc. The demand follows allegations that Larson fostered a culture of fear as head of Bill Gates’ investment fund, Cascade Investments, which has a 34 percent stake in Republic Services.

In a June 23 letter to Republic’s board of directors, Hall argued that the “the high-profile allegations against Larson, which include bullying, sexual harassment and racist comments,” threaten to “erode investor confidence in the board as a whole.” As The Nation reports, GST Hall’s demand comes amid mounting scrutiny of Bill Gates and the Gates Foundation.
