INDEPENDENCE, Ohio, August 29 — Teamsters General President Jim Hoffa has directed international union staff to provide all necessary support to members impacted by Hurricane Harvey and the resulting floods.
Robert Mele, Joint Council 58 President and Local 988 President, is currently assessing the best ways that the Teamsters Disaster Relief Fund, Joint Councils and Local Unions can provide support to our members and retirees affected by this unprecedented storm. Also, Teamsters Local 988 is preparing a staging area for disaster relief supplies at the union hall and will be providing meals to members and retirees.
Let’s support our Brothers and Sisters in Texas during their time of need — Joint Councils, Local Unions and members can make donations directly to the Teamsters Disaster Relief Fund and the funds will be earmarked for assistance to members impacted by Hurricane Harvey.
