WASHINGTON, D.C. — Members of the Brotherhood of Locomotive Engineers and Trainmen (BLET) and Brotherhood of Maintenance of Way Employes (BMWED), both divisions of the Teamsters Rail Conference, will join other rail unions to protest Amtrak’s continued delay in negotiating fairly with union members. All unionized employees of Amtrak have been operating on contract terms negotiated in 1999.
Members of Congress, along with union officials, will speak about Amtrak’s continued push to use non-union contractors, erode health benefits and pay below-standard wages.
