CLEVELAND, October 26 — Dale McPherson, Vice President of the Brotherhood of Locomotive Engineers and Trainmen, extends a heartfelt thank you to everyone who expressed sympathy following the unexpected death of his brother, Randall.

“I sincerely appreciate all the calls, cards and letters,” Brother McPherson said. “I thank everyone for their thoughts and prayers.”

Randall McPherson, 56, and two other men died in a September 13 airplane crash at Bayview-Skagit Regional Airport, about 60 miles north of Seattle. Also on the plane were pilot John O. Brown Sr., 59, and Christopher Schafer, 25.

Brown was the owner of the J. Burns Brown Operating Co., an oil and gas exploration company. McPherson and Schafer were landmen, meaning they obtained leases from mineral rights owners for the company.

According to a preliminary report from the National Transportation Safety Board, the A-36 Beechcraft Bonanza clipped some trees as the pilot was attempting a second global positioning system approach to land.
