OAKLAND, Calif. — Amtrak officials say another person has been killed by a train in Oakland, the third reported death in the area in the past three days.
The death on Sunday morning came after Amtrak officials reported two fatalities on Friday in Berkeley and Oakland.
Authorities say a 69-year-old woman died in the Berkeley incident, and Friday’s Oakland victim was a 38-year-old man. None of the victims have been identified.
Sunday’s fatality occurred on the No. 11 Coast Starlight train, which travels from Seattle to Los Angeles. Friday’s incident occurred on the Capital Corridor train, which travels between the south San Francisco Bay area and Sacramento.
No passengers were injured, and the incidents are being investigated by Amtrak and Union Pacific police.
