SHELBY, Mont. — Three empty cars of a Burlington Northern Santa Fe Railway train derailed west of Browning this morning, closing the main line.

The derailed cars were approximately 20 cars back from the engine.

BNSF spokesman Gus Melonas says no one was hurt in the 7 a.m. derailment, and crews were re-railing two of the cars. The third was being slid off to the side.

Melonas says the eastbound Amtrak is being held at Glacier National Park until the main line reopens. He says that should happen at about 4 p.m.

The train was en route from Pasco, Washington, to Havre.
