TOLEDO, Ohio — Two robbers asked about a train to Chicago and then chugged away with an undisclosed amount of money yesterday after they held up two employees at the Amtrak ticket counter in the train station.
The men approached the counter inside Martin Luther King, Jr. Plaza, 415 Emerald Ave., about 4 a.m. and asked about the train. They were told it was running late and wouldn’t be in until 6:30 a.m., police said.
One of the men then pulled a gun and demanded money. Both then jumped over the counter. One of the employees threw her keys on the counter, and one of the suspects told her to open the cash drawer from which he obtained money.
He then took the employee to a back room, where she opened the safe and the robber took money before the men fled, police said.
