TOLEDO, Ohio — The city of Toledo was awarded a $2.75 million “Logistics and Distribution Stimulus loan” yesterday by the state of Ohio to improve train traffic management and increase capacity at the Norfolk Southern Airline Junction Intermodal Facility.
The funds are pending State Controlling Board approval.
The redevelopment of Airline Junction, which is where Norfolk Southern Corp.’s main east-west line meets the line to Detroit, is expected to create nearly 1,000 new jobs, new payroll of $26 million, and generate more than $1.2 million in local income tax over the next several years.
