CRIDERSVILLE, Ohio — Nineteen rail cars carrying new General Motors vehicles from Detroit derailed in Auglaize County early yesterday, knocking out electrical power in the Cridersville area.

The CSX train of two locomotives and 77 rail cars was traveling to Louisville at 6:15 a.m. when 19 cars derailed halfway between Lima and Wapakoneta, CSX spokesman Gary Sease said. Some of the rail cars were on their sides, and cleanup was expected to continue today.

No injuries were reported, and no damage estimate was available late last night.
