COLUMBUS, Ohio — Police had to close some roads and evacuate businesses near a train yard Tuesday where a rail car leaked toxic acid.
The tanker emptied 23,000 gallons of hydrochloric acid at Norfolk Southern’s Buckeye rail yard, authorities said. The leak was reported about 11 a.m.
People were allowed to return to the area Tuesday afternoon when a white vapor cloud from the acid dissipated.
