EAST GLACIER, Mont. — The railroad tracks east of Glacier National Park reopened Sunday, a day after a freight train derailed and blocked them, disrupting passenger travel.
The tracks reopened at about 11 a.m. MST, said Gus Melonas, a spokesman for Burlington Northern Santa Fe Railway.

The derailment of six cars Saturday afternoon disrupted service by Amtrak’s Empire Builder, which travels a Chicago-St. Paul-Seattle route. Passengers boarded buses for part of the trip.

Melonas said the cause of the derailment remained under investigation Sunday.

Freight in the six cars included paper products, tile and aerosol hairspray.
