McKENZIE, N.D. — A rail line near here has reopened after 20 cars from a 110-car freight train hauling soybeans derailed.

The westbound Burlington Northern Santa Fe train derailed on Sunday, spilling tons of soybeans. No one was injured.

The track was cleared and reopened at about 7:30 p.m. Monday, BNSF Railway spokesman Gus Melonas said.
the train jumped the single-line tracks about 20 miles east of Bismarck.

Cause of the derailment had not been determined Tuesday, Melonas said.

The cleanup could take a month, Melonas said.

“Specialized crews are cutting up and removing cars, debris and product,” Melonas said.
