MOUNT PLEASANT, Wis. — A train car filled with flour that was bound for Illinois left the track Sunday, damaging rails and intersections but causing no reported injuries, police said.

One car of the mixed-freight Union Pacific train derailed around 3 p.m., company spokesman James Barnes said.

The 89-car train was headed for Proviso, Ill. The cause of the derailment is under investigation and no damage estimate was available, he said.

Other trains would be rerouted while repairs were under way, Barnes said.

“When these things happen our goal is get the train re-railed as soon as possible,” he said.
