DETROIT — Nationwide, railroad crossing collisions were up 8.8 percent from 2013 and fatalities grew more than 16 percent. 270 people died in the U.S. but in Michigan, the story is even more concerning. Michigan saw 12 fatalities in 2014, a 300 percent increase from the previous year. This, after decades of steady decreases in deaths and collisions.
