BROKAW, Wisc. — Crews still were working to clean up the site where a train derailed early Thursday morning.

According to Marathon County Sheriff’s Department, a train carrying lumber and coal came off the tracks on the Wausau Paper mill property in Brokaw. One car carrying lumber, two cars carrying coal and one car carrying plastic pellets were tipped on their sides Thursday morning, said Jim Kvedaras, spokes-man for Canadian National Railway Co.

No hazardous materials were on the train.

The train was 45 cars long. Fourteen of those cars had loads on them, and 31 cars were empty, Kvedaras said.

The derailment is under investigation. The track was expected to reopen later Thursday afternoon.

There were no injuries or motor vehicle traffic delays as a result of the derailment.
