PITTSBURGH, Pa. — Allegheny County detectives are investigating an accident at a rail yard in Duquesne late last night that left one man fighting for his life.
Shortly after 11am, a worker at the Union Railroad yard at Duquesne Boulevard and Oakmont Avenue was crushed between two train cars.
While police are still trying to figure out what happened, a worker told KDKA that the man was apparently coupling cars together and hooking up hoses when the cars somehow got pushed together — severing his arm and crushing his leg.
The worker described the victim as a longtime employee of the railroad.
Though authorities have not released the name of the victim, he was flown to UPMC Presbyterian Hospital in critical condition.
