PLAINVIEW, Tex. — According to the Amarillo Globe-News, an eight-car derailment occurred on the Burlington Northern Santa Fe Railroad tracks here at about 4 p.m. Monday, according to Joseph Faust, BNSF regional director of public affairs in Fort Worth.

The 44-car train was headed to Plainview from East Dubuque, Ill. Faust said the derailment happened on the Old Floydada Subdivision in Plainview and all eight of the cars derailed were carrying corn.

There were no fatalities, injuries or interruption of service to the main track, Faust said.

The corn was picked up and the damaged track was expected to be operational again today after service to fix the damages was completed Tuesday, he said.

The cause of the incident is still under investigation, Faust said.
