OWATONNA, Iowa — A train derailed last night in Steele County, the second time in less than one month.
It happened around 9:30, south of Owatonna on tracks used by the Iowa, Chicago and Eastern Railroad.
No one was injured, but three cars were tipped on their sides, and two more jumped the tracks. The train was hauling bricks and canned goods.
The derailment twisted the tracks and tore railroad ties out of the ground. Earlier this month, another train derailed on the same line, just a few miles to the north.
