OKLAHOMA CITY — According to the Daily Oklahoman, Amtrak passengers had to take a bus from Fort Worth, Texas, into Oklahoma Friday night after a freight train wreck near Ardmore blocked the tracks, authorities said.
Dave Raybern, a spokesman with the Oklahoma Department of Transportation, said he was not sure if the train derailed or was in an accident.
The Burlington Northern Santa Fe train will not be moved off the tracks until Saturday, Raybern said.
The accident prevented the Heartland Flyer from carrying passengers across the state border. The train runs twice a day carrying people between seven cities, including Oklahoma City, Norman, Ardmore and Fort Worth, Texas.
Passengers with tickets for the Saturday morning train will ride a bus to Texas, Raybern said.
Officials hope the train will be cleared off the tracks in time for the Heartland Flyer to return to Oklahoma tonight, he said.
